Competition in Festivals is an important part of choir work, helping to maintain a high standard of musical ability, and our choir has had a number of successes over the years. The results of this show in the numerous concerts which are performed and the amount of money which is raised for charities.

Carol singing - Eldon Square. We are pleased to report that our Christmas appearances in the Eldon Square Shopping Centre in Newcastle from 1998 to the year 2007, produced the sum of £14,359.95 for various local charities........this total includes the following:- Collections for 17th Dec. 2007 raised £375.89 for Bubble Appeal (RVI). Collections for 18th Dec. 2007 raised £477.25 for Breathe North. Collections for 20th Dec. 2007 raised £370.80 for the N/C Society for the Blind. |

The Year Past Following last year's Annual Concert (2006), the Choir were represented at the Festival of Brass and Voices in the Royal Albert Hall, when the staggering sum of £95,000 was raised for Cancer Research UK; performed to a capacity audience in the Lamplight Arts Centre, Stanley, with the Gibside Singers and Reg Vardy Ensemble for the concert 'A Slice of Christmas'. The year ended with Carol Singing in Eldon Shopping Centre for Charities as mentioned in the panel above.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm In March of this year, the Choir performed in Denton Burn Methodist Church and took part in the NE National Association of Choirs Conference Concert 'Choral Spectacular' in Newcastle City Hall. The concert 'Brass & Voices' at the 'Lamplight' in May with the 'Reg Vardy Band' and in St. George's UR Church and Methodist Church, Heaton, were well received. The Choir hosted K Shoes Male Voice Choir (Kendal) in June singing in Cullercoats Methodist Church, and shared a concert with Horbury Ladies' Choir (Wakefield) in Murton Methodist Church in September. We wish to acknowledge our appreciation to the organisations who have invited the choir to perform, and audiences for their interest and support.
